SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The wordsmiths of the nation converged in South Bend this week for an electrifying display of vocabulary prowess and strategic play at the 2024 Scrabble Players Championship. Held at the Century Center, this premier event drew competitive Scrabble players from across the country for several days of intense matches.

In a thrilling final on Wednesday, Mack Meller emerged victorious, earning the coveted title of Scrabble King. Meller, who displayed remarkable skill and a bit of timely luck, remarked on his achievement: “I think I played really well. I definitely will say I got a little bit of luck when I needed it. But with Scrabble, which is a game of randomness where you are pulling tiles from a bag, you can't win a championship like this with so many top players without getting a little bit of luck. So I'll take it!”
