    'Unmatched' Irish attractions in underrated city praised by visitors

    Tourists have had overwhelmingly positive things to say about the city of Derry in Northern Ireland . The small city is full of interesting and touching history .

    Located not too far from Belfast , Derry is quickly becoming a popular destination for those who are going on road trips around Ireland . And according to visitors, there are plenty of amazing experiences to be had in the city of Derry .

    Derry was made famous around the world thanks to the international success of the Irish comedy series Derry Girls . Set in the 90s, the show introduced people around the world to the unique banter of the people of Derry as well as the troubled history of the city.

    According to visitors, there are some unforgettable things to do in Derry. The top pick for many is walking the old city walls.

    One person described the experience as unmatched. Writing a review on Tripadvisor, the visitor said: "Totally amazing history here, and the preservation is unmatched. Love the respect given to these valuable historical markers."

    Another said: "The walls themselves are very cool! Derry is the last fully walled city in Ireland and they are in great condition. The walls also provide amazing views of the city. You can see the Guildhall, the Free Derry Corner, and also down the main street to the square."

    Meanwhile, visitors have also praised the Museum of Free Derry which charts the history of Bloody Sunday. One person wrote: "A sobering experience but I found it fascinating nonetheless."

    A second person said: "History in the raw, powerful, and emotional. A moving story of the horrors inflicted on a community, and their efforts to obtain justice."

    According to visitors, some of the other highlights in Derry include Guildhall. Full of historical exhibitions, entry here is totally free. "This is a beautiful building, both inside and out," said one visitor. "To appreciate the windows you have to see them from the inside. They are stunning. There is also an exhibition with the history of the 'plantation' as it was called, or the settlement of English in Ireland. This was very interesting, and something I was not aware of. There is no charge, and the staff were so friendly!"

    Another tourist said: "Lots of information and beauty to be seen inside. The organ and stained glass windows are truly spectacular."

    Derry's other top attractions, according to visitors, include the Peace Bridge, the Tower Museum, and Derry City Cemetary.
