Sinead O’Connor’s cause of death has finally been revealed, exactly one year since the beloved Irish singer died after being found “unresponsive” in her London apartment.

O’Connor died of a combination of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, the Irish Independent reported.

The 56-year-old songstress was also battling a respiratory tract infection at the time of her passing, the outlet wrote.

The cause of death was formally registered in Lambeth, London this week by her husband, John Reynolds.

The legendary “Nothing Compares 2 U” crooner’s death certificate notes she died from “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection.”

London Metropolitan Police were summoned to O’Connor’s apartment in Southeast London on July 26, 2023 after receiving reports of an unresponsive woman at the scene.

O’Connor left behind three children, Jake, Roisin and Yeshua. Another son, Shane, took his own life in 2022 at the age of 17.

In her heart-rending final post on X, the Dublin-born singer-songwriter described Shane as “the only person who ever loved me unconditionally.”

Often controversial, O’Connor was as known for her soaring vocals as she was for her close-cropped haircut and her outspoken political views.

She made waves with an infamous 1992 “Saturday Night Live” appearance in which she ripped up a photo of Pope John Paul II on live TV, drawing widespread condemnation and boycotts.
