    Claim:

Disney has launched an "Aladdin Flying Magic Carpet" experience as of July 2024.

    Rating:

Labeled Satire ( About this rating? )

On July 21, 2024, Mouse Trap News published an article claiming Disney had opened a flying magic carpet ride inspired by the 1992 classic movie "Aladdin."

The article ( archived ) said the ride would set thrill-seekers back $5,000 and that they must be 18 years or older to try out "an authentic Magic Carpet":

Disney Offers Aladdin Flying Magic Carpet Experience

Disney is now offering a Magic Carpet flying experience. For only $5,000, you can soar on Aladdin's magic carpet, through the mountains.

Essentially riders will strap on an authentic Magic Carpet and when ready, will jump off the edge of the mountain. They will then soar down the mountainside and enjoy the scenic views while they fly.

Disney also has speakers installed on the Magic Carpet to play "A Whole New World" while you soar. It's worth noting that no prior flying or parachuting experience is needed, however, participants will need to sign a waiver before flying on the magic carpet. Also, you must be 18 years or older to partake in this experience.

The claim also was posted on the Mouse Trap News TikTok account ( archived ), where it racked up more than 446,000 views and 34,000 likes, as of this writing.

"You're definitely going to a whole new world after this........ heaven," one user commented.

However, this item was not a factual recounting of real-life events. Mouse Trap news described its output as satirical in nature on its " About " page, as follows:

Mouse Trap News is the world's best satire and parody site. We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff. From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun.

Mouse Trap News credited Instagram account @alladin_skylab for the footage featured in its TikTok video, which was originally posted on July 18, 2024.

The Instagram user had posted numerous videos of himself using a wingsuit, and described himself in his bio as an "artist" who partakes in "flying carpets and other Body tensed non inflated clothes and tarps and skins."

Snopes found no evidence Disney had launched an "Aladdin Flying Magic Carpet" experience.

We had previously debunked several other satirical claims by Mouse Trap News, such as a Fortnite theme park coming to Disney World, and Disney World banning farting in its parks.

For background, here is why we sometimes write about satire/humor.
