On the surface, it’s easy to compare Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Both speak with Southern drawls. Both won American Idol and used her victory as a launching pad to a wildly successful career. And both are absolute vocal powerhouses. However, despite online polls demanding that fans determine the more iconic Idol winner, Clarkson has emphasized that she has no beef with the “Undo It” singer. In fact, the former Voice coach recently put her stamp on one of Underwood’s most epic tracks.

In addition to releasing 10 albums and 11 Top 10 singles, Kelly Clarkson also hosts a popular talk show. Viewers have grown to love the “Kellyoke” segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show. The three-time GRAMMY Award winner puts her own spin on other artists’ work. Clarkson has covered everyone from Judy Garland to Billie Eilish. During Thursday’s (July 25) episode, the first-ever American Idol winner took the stage to perform Underwood’s 2012 hit “Blown Away.”

Underwood released the moody, gripping country-pop number as the second single and title track from her fourth studio album. The song is about a young woman who locks herself in the cellar while her abusive father is passed out on the couch in an alcoholic stupor.

In a video of the performance posted to The Kelly Clarkson Show’s Instagram page, fans called for a collaboration between the two Idol winners. “i feel like in the entire world they are 2 of the only people who can match each other’s vocals and high notes,” one Instagram user wrote. “I love them both so much so l applaud Kelly for doing a carrie song and slaying it.”

Another fan agreed, adding, “Their vocals together would make magic!!!”

Why Wasn’t This Carrie Underwood Song Featured In ‘Twisters?’

Twisters touched down in movie theaters on July 19, backed by an all-country soundtrack featuring Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, and more. The film’s plot centers around a tornado in Oklahoma. Unsurprisingly, many fans wondered why the soundtrack left out a country song about… a tornado in Oklahoma.

“really a crime that Blown Away by Carrie Underwood is not featured on the Twisters album… guess there really isn’t enough rain in Oklahoma,” one user wrote on X/Twitter.

However, other social media users pointed out that the song’s dark subject matter didn’t exactly fit into the film.
