King Charles has reportedly sent a covert message to his sons by extending an olive branch to the Duke of York, insiders claim. The nation was taken aback when Prince Andrew was seen with the Royal Family at Sandringham on Christmas Day, alongside King Charles, the Queen Consort, and the Wales family.

His appearance, walking with his former wife Sarah Ferguson who marked her first December 25 attendance in three decades raised eyebrows. Insiders suggest that the King's invitation to his brother, who is rumoured to have been the late Queen's favoured son, was a signal to his feuding sons. The gesture implies that if the monarch can offer reconciliation , then perhaps Princes William and Harry might find a way to mend their rift.

A source confided in Royal writer Robert Jobson for his upcoming book 'Catherine, the Princess of Wales: The biography', as he reported for MailOnline: "Perhaps the King is subliminally trying to show William forgiving one's brother and giving him a second chance is a strength, not a weakness. Prince William disagrees and as for his own brother, as far as he is concerned there is no way back."

Royal Christmas celebrations are known for the public meet-and-greet outside the church and a festive lunch featuring turkey with all the fixings. Sandringham House, which has been a private residence for four generations of British monarchs over more than 160 years, is now owned by King Charles, reports the Mirror .

Pundits were buzzing back in 2023 before Christmas about the possibility of the Sussexes being summoned to Sandringham for the holiday season. There was reportedly a "warm" telephone conversation between Harry and his father, prompting rumours that the pair intended to spend their festive season on English soil.

Moreover, it came out that Prince Andrew's presence at the televised Sandringham walkabout had left Harry feeling rather "irritated".

Fast forward to this week and whispers tell us that during an all-too-rare joint Royal event, Prince William returned his sibling's so-called 'barrier gesture' with what a body language whizz dubbed the "opposite of an acknowledgement". The episode unfolded in 2022, amidst revelry celebrating the unchanged monarch's Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen's service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral saw Harry and Meghan make their debut public appearance at a Royal event since subtracting themselves from the monarchy.

Despite the brothers both attending the same event, they were spotted seated at some remove from each other, not caught in any conversation, nor even standing together. Judi James, an expert in body language, conveyed to the Mirror that Prince William exhibited a "barrier gesture" as he walked past the pew housing his brother en route to his own seat, with Kate in tow.
