Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) argued the Democratic Party is using “all the king’s horses and all the king’s men” to put the party back together ahead of the 2024 election after President Joe Biden bowed out of the race.

In the week since Biden dropped his 2024 reelection bid, the president and many Democratic lawmakers have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s 2024 presidential candidate . DeSantis contended that the presidential debate from last month did irreversible damage to Biden’s reelection campaign, resulting in the media making a major push to have the president drop out.

“And now what you see is all the arteries of the Left, the corporate media, Hollywood, academia, they’re using all the king’s horses and all the king’s men to try to put the Democratic Party back together again, and they have to whitewash Harris’s background to be able to make her palpable to the American people,” DeSantis said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

The Florida governor then questioned whether the Democratic Party could succeed in making Harris an appealing candidate for president, arguing that “she owns all the policies of the Biden-Harris administration.”

DeSantis predicted that people would see “massive gaslighting” regarding Harris over the next 100 days ahead of the election.

“That’s going to continue, and they’re going to try to pull the wool over the eyes of the American people,” DeSantis said.

The Florida governor launched a bid for president last year but dropped out after the Iowa caucuses and endorsed former President Donald Trump . At the Republican National Convention, in which Trump became the party’s 2024 presidential nominee, DeSantis called for voters to make “the 45th president of the United States the 47th president of the United States,” adding that they should “elect Republicans up and down the ballot.”

During her first fundraiser since joining the 2024 presidential race, Harris described herself and her campaign as “the underdogs” in this race. She added that her campaign has “momentum,” citing the massive spike in fundraising it has received.
