Kevin Durant has little left to accomplish in his international career, but still managed to break new ground in Team USA's opening win at the Paris Olympics.

The three-time gold medalist, who entered the Summer Games as Team USA's all-time leading scorer in men's basketball, added to his total with a record-breaking first half in the team's 110-84 win over Serbia. After returning from a nagging injury, Durant came off the bench in the first quarter and went on a shooting streak, ending the first half with 21 points.

As ESPN noted, Durant accomplished a feat he had never done before in his 16 NBA seasons.

"Kevin Durant has never dropped 20 pts on 100% from the field in any half of his NBA career, including postseason. He just dropped 21 on 8-8 shooting off the bench in the first half vs. Serbia," the site noted in a post on X .

There had been some uncertainty about Durant's status leading up to Sunday's game, with Team USA not announcing until close to an hour before tipoff that he would be available. Though head coach Steve Kerr kept Durant out of the starting lineup, the former NBA MVP finished the game with a team-high 23 points.
