A new report provides an update on Meiko Satomura ‘s upcoming retirement.

At a press conference on July 26th, Meiko Satomura confirmed that she would retire in 2025 alongside the thirtieth anniversary of her debut. Satomura signed with WWE in 2020 and has worked as a talent and coach. Before she returned for the company’s tour in Japan over the past few days, she had not wrestled for the company since March 2023.

Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select ) reports that, per NXT sources, Meiko Satomura had not been at an NXT taping since then, nor had she been coaching at the WWE Performance Center. However, she remains under WWE contract.

Additionally, Brennan writes that only Meiko Satomura and higher-ups were aware of her reasoning for her absence. That said, NXT talent shared their belief that Satomura sought to finish her contract with WWE, though a return to television was not expected by sources. Per Brennan, there is no word on whether Satomura will be used on television by WWE before she retires from the ring.

Brennan also cites sources in Japan who noted that they believed that Meiko Satomurs was focused on growing her Sendai Girls promotion, at least for the time being, and a return to the United States during her final run was unlikely, but not impossible.
