Patriots' Drake Maye Draws Stunning Quarterback Comparison

The former North Carolina product, Drake Maye , was drafted by the New England Patriots with the 3rd overall pick after both Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels . Yet, so far, Maye has been as impressive as any rookie through the first week of training camp and is drawing some staggering comparisons.

His overall arm talent, precision, and athleticism have been on full display, and he has an immense amount of confidence stepping into his throws, which has reportedly resembled a lot of Justin Herbert when he was entering the league with the Los Angeles Chargers .

It’s also key to note that Herbert didn't start the season as the starter in his rookie season. Tyrod Taylor did. So the probability that Jacoby Brissett may start over Maye to start the year is really not a concern at all. That is a common route for many quarterbacks.

In two seasons as the starting quarterback for the Tar Heels, Maye managed to rack up 7,929 yards, 62 touchdowns, and threw just 16 interceptions. He was easily one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and now looks to live up to a wild comparison with one of the game’s best.
