Saoirse Ronan secretly marries longtime beau Jack Lowden in Scotland

Actress Saoirse Ronan married her longtime boyfriend, Jack Lowden in Scotland earlier this month.

The Lady Bird star first started dating Jack after meeting on the set of Mary Queen of Scots. Saoirse, now 30, played the famous queen while Jack, 34, played Lord Darnley who was Mary's husband.

After six years together, the couple married in July and was confirmed to have happened by the Register of Scottish Civil Marriages records. It reportedly took place at the Edinburgh Registrar's Office with just a few close friends.

Saoirse and Jack have kept their relationship quiet over the years, even denying that they were dating at all. In 2019, Saoirse was asked if she was "going out with the person that everyone thinks you’re going out with?" to which the actress simply answered: "No."

Jack also kept a tight lip about the relationship, telling ES Magazine in regards to his love life: "Oh, I’m not going to talk about that. I don’t like talking about that side of life.

"Most of the actors I know live pretty normal lives, it’s just every now and again they have to do something ridiculous or extraordinary," he continued, "My life hasn’t changed. People seem more interested — I guess that’s changed, for sure.”

He has given glimpses into his relationship with the Irish actress, sharing a photo of them on Instagram at Glastonbury Festival earlier this summer. Saoirse stood in front of Jack as they watched a performance while Jack rested his chin on the top of her head and had his arms wrapped around her.

This wasn't the first time that the Little Women actress appeared on his Instagram - but Jack deleted those photos. While they keep their relationship private, the two have been spotted together over the years.

In October 2021, Jack supported Saoirse by attending her stage production of The Tragedy of Macbeth. Then in January 2022, the couple were spotted at the Australian Open together. Last New Years Eve, Jack shared a mirror selfie of the two.
