ZEE5 Global’s Barzakh Series Episode 2 Recap & Spoilers

ZEE5 Global’s Barzakh is the latest Pakistani fantasy television series. It revolves around a decades-old love story that goes on to live despite the death of one partner. The TV series features Fawad Khan (Fawad Afzal Khan), Sanam Saeed, Salman Shahid, Fawad M Khan, and others.

Barzakh series begins with the introduction of two lovers, Jafar and Mehtab. As Jafar goes to the city to earn enough money to buy a gold necklace for the love of his life, he never gets to gift it to her. The series soon transitions to the present time when Jafar, now an old man, has announced his third and last wedding. After hearing the news about his wedding, his two sons, Shehryar and Saifullah, from his previous two marriages visit him at his luxurious hotel, Mehtab Mahal.

Barzakh then introduces Jafar’s caretaker, Scheherezade (played by Sanam Saeed), who believes in his idea of a third marriage. It is soon revealed that the old man has planned to tie the knot with his deceived lover at the top of a cliff to open the doors to the two worlds. Moreover, the viewers also soon learn how Mehtab Mahal was built on the ground where Mehtab was buried with her ancestors after she was killed for getting pregnant out of wedlock. As a result, the entire hotel has many souls roaming around it, and the villagers are fighting for the freedom of their ancestors.

Written and directed by Asim Abbasi, its synopsis reads, “76-year-old Jafar Khanzada invites his children to the Land of Nowhere for his third wedding. His sons’ arrival in the mystical valley sets them on a journey to realize the power of true love.”

Brazakh series’ episode 2 further touches upon many mysteries that the first episode teased.

What happened in Barzakh series’ episode 2?

While Jafar leaves no stone unturned to prove his love to Mehtab, he fails to be a good father figure to his two sons and a decent husband to his wives. He left Saifullah and his mother, which worsened the latter’s condition. Saifullah somehow took care of his mother right from his teenage years till her death.

The second episode of the TV series then throws light on Scheherezade’s role and how she agrees to do whatever her Aaqa (master) wants her to do. While she is a good caretaker, she is also seen mysteriously interacting with ghosts. Every character in Barzakh seems to be fighting their own war. Shehryar also lost his wife, Leena, and now takes care of their son. At one moment in the second episode, he almost fails as a father after yelling at his son. However, a powerful scene confirms how he soon realizes he is not like his father, who was never around.

Meanwhile, the villagers unite against Jafar’s third marriage. They aim to fight for the souls of their ancestors against Jafar.

Barzakh series’ episode 2 ending explained

The second episode of Barzakh ends with the revelation of how Saifullah killed his mother after watching her suffer in pain for years. After his brief happy moment of dancing with his father, Saifullah goes to watch the cook bathing. As he expresses attraction for the cook, he feels the presence of his late mother hugging him. He then recalls how he took his mother’s life after suffocating her with a pillow.

On the other hand, the villagers are handed over pictures of garlands offered to their ancestors’ graves. The mystery around Scheherezade’s role deepens as she reveals her plan to visit the village. Moreover, the glass in her room breaks again as she scratches the tattoo on her arm.

The upcoming episodes will further reveal how Brazakh’s story will be shaped, with many more mysteries unfolding before the viewers.
