Prior to joining AEW, the company made him a big offer, so why did Jeff Hardy turn down a WWE Hall of Fame induction?

It was a tough time for the brothers. Matt decided to leave WWE. He debuted with AEW in a virtually empty arena at the beginning of the pandemic. I contend he never got the reactions he deserved and his tepid debut didn’t help. But while brother Matt was in AEW, Jeff was stuck in WWE . Their contracts didn’t run concurrently due to injury time, but Jeff ultimately pushed his way out-and into AEW.

But, before heading out, WWE made Jeff a really interesting offer to stick around. Specifically, the offer was for a WWE Hall of Fame induction. And if you follow Hall of Fame inductees, you know that we don’t yet count Jeff Hardy among them. Jeff turned the company down, and he spoke to Busted Open recently to elaborate on the reason why.

His reason for turning it down was simple and touching. He only intends to go in alongside his brother Matt. Sure, the brothers have done their own things at times. However, for much of their careers, their success has been defined in the tag team division. Jeff said just thinking about all that the duo have accomplished, it wouldn’t be right for him to go in without Matt. And more important, he doesn’t want two Hall of Fame rings for a solo and a tag induction. One ring and one induction he can share with Matt is all he wants or needs.

And with both Matt and Jeff out of AEW now and hanging out in TNA ? The WWE door is open once again. There has already been chatter that perhaps the two extreme Superstars might pop up in NXT . But given their current status, it would seem much more likely we’d see that Hall of Fame induction sooner than later.
