TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — As hurricane season heats up, meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Florida want you to be informed and ready when a storm heads in our direction.

They are offering free virtual sessions over the course of four days to help you prepare.

Each day will have a different topic that will teach you how to interpret different products and use tools from the NWS and NHC, along with the Florida Division of Emergency Management, FEMA, and Ready.gov.

Monday, July 29 is all about monitoring the tropics and seasonal readiness.

Tuesday, July 30 will teach you about getting ready for potential impacts.

Wednesday, July 31 is about sheltering in place and when to hunker-down.

Thursday August 1 is all about after the storm passes and teaching lessons learned from past storms.

There will be four time slot options each day, however the 11 a.m. time slot is already full each day with a maximum of 1,000 participants per session. The other time slots still available include 1 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. eastern time each day.

Each session is one hour long and is open to the general public, although the information will be geared toward Florida residents. You can ask questions during the session to the meteorologists as well.

You can read more information and sign up for the individual sessions here.
