The MLB trade deadline is approaching and a number of deals have been made across the league. The Los Angeles Angels are once again expected to be moving some pieces at the deadline.

Entering Monday, the Angels have a 46-60 record and are in fourth place in the American League West. So, they could be selling a number of pieces ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

One player drawing significant interest is veteran Kevin Pillar, per a report from MLB insider Jon Heyman.

"Kevin Pillar, who’s said he’ll likely retire at year’s end, will have a chance to finish with a contender," Heyman said. "Lots of interest in the Angels’ veteran OF."

As Heyman notes, Pillar is likely to retire at the end of the season, and finishing with a playoff team would be the icing on the cake.

Pillar has been in the majors since making his debut in 2013 and has bounced around quite a bit. He was with the Toronto Blue Jays for the majority of his career, playing with them from 2013-19.

In April 2019, Pillar was traded to the San Francisco Giants, which began a string of moves for the veteran. He spent time with each of the Boston Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago White Sox after that.

Pillar began the 2024 season with the White Sox before being designated for assignment. He then signed with the Angels and could be on the move once again.

On the season, Pillar is hitting .278 with seven home runs and 32 RBI, and he has turned it around considerably after hitting just .160 in 17 games with the White Sox.

With Pillar set to retire at year's end, it could be a perfect opportunity for a contending team to get a win-now veteran piece for a discount price.
