Dwyane Wade just wanted to applaud his good friend and former Miami Heat teammate LeBron James for turning back the clock in Team USA's resounding win over Serbia in the 2024 Olympics. He did it using presumably a joke, saying that James' pronouns are " HE/HIM ."

However, the controversial retired NFL star Antonio Brown used it as a tool to attack Wade's family.

    AB referred to Zaya

Brown clearly doesn't approve of D-Wade's handling of the coming out of his transgender daughter, Zaya.

The 17-year-old told her father and stepmother, Gabrielle Union, of her gender identity at 12. The story has not sat well with many people, including those with conservative beliefs. Still, the Hall of Famer has been nothing but supportive of his child, even moving from Florida to California in 2023 partially because of the state's restrictive LGBTQ policies.

The elder Wade also had to respond to the accusations levied by Siovaughn Funches-Wade, his ex-wife and Zaya's mother, when she accused him of trying to profit off of the younger Wade's transitioning.

It's unclear what Brown is trying to achieve with his post on X (formerly Twitter). However, he isn't the first celebrity to have accosted "Flash" for using the "she/her" pronouns when talking about Zaya.

    AB's controversies

Only time will tell if D-Wade will respond to the viral post, although chances are, he would just let it go, considering that Brown isn't exactly the best of role models.

The 36-year-old was once an outstanding wide receiver, securing various awards and records over his 12 seasons in the NFL. He also helped Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the Super Bowl of the 2020 NFL campaign.

However, his career was also marred by plenty of legal issues, including run-ins with law enforcement, sexual misconduct, and domestic violence, to name a few. Brown also attracted a lot of attention for his questionable and sometimes scandalous behavior. Perhaps none was more perplexing than the way his career ended.

During the Buccaneers' last game in the 2021 NFL season, the four-time first-team All-Pro looked like he was having a meltdown in the middle of the contest before taking off his jersey and all of his gear. He then ran toward the locker room while shirtless, holding a peace sign in the crowd's direction.

Following the game, the Bucs coach Bruce Arians declared that Brown was off the team. It was a crazy turn of events, as Tampa Bay had to play in the postseason without one of its best wideouts.

No other franchise wanted to take a chance on him after that, and he officially retired in 2023. Since then, AB has been busy on social media, and the elder Wade is just one of his many targets.
