LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Active weather returns to Mid-Michigan, with several chances for showers and thunderstorms throughout the week. In addition to this, we will also have hot and humid conditions settling in across the area.

We have dry and mostly cloudy conditions across the area as we start the work week, with dew point temperatures in the low 70s to upper 60s throughout the day, making it feel incredibly humid outside.

We will have scattered showers and thunderstorms returning to the area this afternoon and evening. While we are not expecting severe weather across the area, there will be the chance for heavy downpours and isolated strong wind gusts. Those showers and thunderstorms will continue overnight and into the day tomorrow.

Dry conditions will briefly settle into the area on Wednesday, with partly cloudy conditions in the forecast. However, despite the dry weather, Wednesday will be incredibly hot and humid across Mid-Michigan, with temperatures approaching 90 degrees. When we factor in the humidity, heat indices on Wednesday will likely be in the low to mid-90s at certain points throughout the day.

Stormy conditions will return to Mid-Michigan for the second half of the work week, with another system moving in on Thursday. While it is too far out to pin down exact details, it is worth mentioning that we are watching a system on Friday that will have the potential to bring strong to severe storms to the area. Our Team will continue to monitor any potential for severe weather in the area, and provide updates on-air, online, and through the StormTracker 6 Weather App.
