‘You’d be a fool to allow it’ people cry as mum reveals ‘cheeky’ neighbours’ bizarre garden demand to help them renovate

A MUM has revealed a bizarre garden demand from her neighbour as they claim they need it done to help renovate their home.

The homeowners recently just bought their home and were introduced to their neighbours after they popped over to ask for a specific demand.

But it left her feeling confused as she wasn’t sure if it was a fair request that they were asking for.

So the mum decided to head to online forum Mumsnet to ask fellow users of the site for their advice.

She wrote: “We've recently bought a new house and our neighbours at the end of our garden are looking to redo the outside of their house.

“They came by today to ask for permission as the work would require scaffolding in our garden, and were surprised to find seating and an olive tree in the area.

“They've asked if we can move the olive tree and seating in order for them to have the work done, but I'm a little concerned about moving such a big tree.”

Clearly confused by the request, the mum asked Mumsnet users if anyone else has “experience with this?”

She continued: “They were making out that it really wasn't a big deal but I've been researching it and it seems not quite as simple as they're making out.”

The post attracted a lot of attention, with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts - and many disagreed with her neighbours.

One simply wrote: “No, obviously you can’t move the tree!”

Another added: “Just say no. Their scaffolders will find a solution.”

A third Mumsnet user said the homeowner would be a “fool to allow it.”

They continued: “No way would I even consider this.

“It's not only moving a tree which must have taken years to establish but also months of mess, disruption and potentially invasion of privacy if their builders are going to be in or coming in and out of your garden.

“Is this work an extension/bettering or essential maintenance?

“You say you recently moved in, I wonder if they tried the same with the previous owners and were told no, so now they’re trying it on with you, the new owner, pretending they didn’t know that a tree is there?
