According to Football Insider , Aston Villa have lodged a loan bid for England international midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The Manchester City outcast has no future at the Etihad as some other clubs are also vying to sign the 28-year-old, who wants to quit the Etihad and look for a club where he is a regular feature, preferably in the Premier League, as there's some concrete interest bubbling in the background.

Reports last week suggested that Everton have held talks with the representatives of the England international and the Cityzens over a potential loan move . The Toffees are in the market for a replacement for Amadou Onana, who ironically just completed a £50 million ($64m) move to join Aston Villa.

Aston Villa are now also interested in signing Phillips, with manager Unai Emery eager to build a squad with significant depth as the team prepares for Champions League football next season.

Phillips has struggled to find his footing at Manchester City since his £45 million move from Leeds in 2022, making only 31 appearances.

A loan move to West Ham United last season didn't improve Phillips' situation, as the former Leeds United star accumulated only 320 minutes of playing time across all competitions. He was dropped from the England squad as a result of those poor performance and Pep Guardiola's side are now looking to offload him this summer.

Everton are exploring into a loan deal with an option to buy. However, Manchester City are hesitant to agree to another straight loan unless it includes an obligation to purchase.

Despite this, Villa have made the first concrete move in the race for Phillips by submitting a loan offer.
