Air Canada flight canceled as flight attendant has meltdown over passenger’s ‘reasonable request’

An Air Canada flight from Morocco to Montreal was reportedly cancelled due to a dispute over a blanket request.

The incident on Air Canada flight AC73, which has since gone viral , shows a heated exchange between a flight attendant and a female passenger who had asked for a blanket.

The airline staff member is alleged to have tried to eject the passenger from the aircraft and threatened to call the police, leading to other passengers threatening to disembark in support. The flight was set to take off on Friday but was postponed until the following day.

In a video of the incident, the airline employee can be heard saying: "You will behave or we will get off!" and "I'll tell the captain right away. Yes or no?"

The flight attendant retorted to passengers asking her to call the captain, "I don't want no bullying against my crew."

A video of the incident was shared online, but it only started rolling after the flight attendant had already begun shouting at the passenger.

It's still unclear what led up to this heated exchange and the female passenger who requested the blanket has not been identified or come forward.

Air Canada informed CTV News that the flight from Casablanca to Montreal would depart on Saturday with a new crew.

An Air Canada spokesperson stated: "We are taking this incident very seriously. It is under review, and we will take appropriate action.

"We apologize to our customers and deeply regret that their experience today fell far short of what they have come to expect when flying with Air Canada."

Last month, an out-of-control passenger who had to be duct-taped to the seat on an American Airlines flight found out she was facing fresh woes as she is being sued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for failing to pay her fine.

Heather Wells, 34, is facing a lawsuit from the FAA for failing to pay an $81,950 (£62,380) fine imposed on her for her wild antics in July 2021. She was penalised for her erratic behaviour during the flight, which included attempting to open the main doors and acting violently towards the crew.

She was travelling in business class on American Airlines Flight 1774 from Dallas, Texas to Charlotte, North Carolina, between July 6 and July 7, 2021. Heather was slapped with a massive fine last year in 2022, that alleges she violated federal aviation rules by trying to access the flight cabin, interfering with the flight crew, threatening them, and posing as an imminent threat to the safety of the aircraft or individuals on the aircraft.
