Pidcock’s mother and father are also keen cyclists which is why by age seven, the British star had already been involved in his first race at the Castle Combe circuit near Swindon.

However, the end result didn’t go too well, with his bike chain falling off half-way through meant that he disappointingly lost the race.

But the young cycling icon used that as motivation and practiced relentlessly throughout his school years.

Which then led to Pidcock’s first major success at age 14 – winning the toughest race of The British National Youth Road labelled Oliver’s Mount Climb.
