Amanda Balionis' touching congratulations message to 'simply the best' after 3M Open win

Amanda Balionis has shared a sweet message and picture to Venezuelan professional golfer Jhonattan Vegas after his first win in seven years. He birdied the 72nd hole and claimed his fourth PGA Tour title in the 3M Open.

This marks Vegas' first win since returning after two surgeries. The 39-year-old is competing on a medical exemption after an elbow injury limited him to seven starts last season.

Sharing in Vegas' joy, Amanda Balionis , who was being romantically linked to Rory McIlroy amid his previous plans to divorce his wife , posted a sweet message to her own Instagram page , alongside a really nice picture .

Sharing snaps of herself interviewing Vegas and his family after the win, Balionis wished him a "massive congratulations". She wrote: "The win and this family" with a crying eyes emoji.

"A massive congratulations to @jhonattanvegas on claiming his first win in nearly seven (!!) years," the sports journalist said. "The Venezuelan has been through a lot with injuries, surgeries, and the process it takes to come back.

"The perseverance and grace he has showed through it all has been amazing, and to watch his victory happen in front of his wife and kids -who are old enough to remember this one- was simply the best."

She added: "Thank you @3mopen for always hosting a spectacular event… and I’m not just saying that because of the doggos."

Balionis has been having a wonderful time at the 3M Open in Minnesota. The reporter took time out from reporting on the 3M Open at the TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota to upload sweet pictures on Instagram of her nonsporting passion.

While the Pittsburgh native is passionate about her sport, she also has a charitable side, which is best captured in her sweet Instagram post . Balionis is President and founder of Puppies and Golf, a dog-based charity.
