The Simpsons is famous for its guest stars, and if you were a wrestling fan in the 90s, you’d fondly remember when Bret Hart made a brief appearance in the episode “The Old Man And The Lisa.” It initially aired in 1997, and when Mr. Burns loses his money, Hart buys his mansion and calls him a “ pencil-neck geek.

And now, almost three decades later, another WWE star is set to make a cameo on the much-loved show, with Variety confirming John Cena will appear on  Season 36’s “Bart’s Birthday,” No further information was provided regarding Cena’s part, although it will be a star-studded episode with Conan O’Brien, Danny DeVito, and Tom Hanks also featuring.

“The producers teased the “Simpsons” Season 36 opener, “Bart’s Birthday,” which will feature former “Simpsons” writer Conan O’Brien returning in a major guest appearance. Other guests on that opener include John Cena, Danny DeVito and Tom Hanks.”

47-year-old Cena is best known to wrestling fans for being a 16-time world champion, yet to the general public, he is now a genuine mainstream Hollywood star, so he won’t be considered out of place alongside DeVito and Hanks. For those unaware, Cena’s acting career initially took off thanks to WWE-produced movies, but he received his proper big break via Judd Apatow’s 2015 romantic comedy “Trainwreck” alongside Amy Schumer. Since then, he has been featured in major films, including “Daddy’s Home,” “Bumblebee,” and “Barbie.” Additionally, he has joined the Fast & Furious franchise and portrays DC’s Peacemaker on both the big and small screen.
