Severe Weather Possible Across Indiana Today

INDIANAPOLIS — Severe weather is possible across Indiana today. The National Weather Service reports that storms could start early this morning and last throughout the day.

“We’re going to have a couple of thunderstorms across Indiana today,” says National Weather Service forecaster Chad Swain. “The first will occur around mid-morning to early afternoon, and there could be gusty winds and maybe an isolated thunderstorm.”

Swain says we could see more thunderstorms this evening, mainly after 7 o’clock. Some could be severe, with damaging winds being the main concern.

Southern Indiana is at the highest risk for severe weather, including the possibility of tornadoes, but damaging winds are the main concern.

“We are looking at winds that could knock some trees down,” says Swain.

These storms could lead to a hot week ahead, with temperatures expected to reach the low 90s and heat indices in the mid-100s. The hottest conditions are likely to occur between Tuesday and Thursday.
