“Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam” is currently the most popular show on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The three-part docuseries dives into rise and fall of Lou Pearlman, the music manager behind the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC who was later accused of running a massive Ponzi scheme. “Dirty Pop” features interviews with Pearlman’s former business associates and friends, as well as Backstreet Boys members AJ McLean and Howie Dorough, *NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick, Natural’s Michael Johnson and Patrick King, and O-Town’s Erik-Michael Estrada.

Although it’s a compelling story, critics and viewers have criticized the docuseries for its use of AI and decision to leave out certain notable aspects of the story. The topic has admittedly been explored before through countless articles and even a previous documentary, “The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story.”
