Bernadette Peters Rejects Kelly Ripa’s Makeup Advice On ‘Live’: “I Look Like The Joker”

Not everyone can rock Kelly Ripa ‘s new lip makeup routine — just ask Bernadette Peters .

The actress and singer joined Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, where the latter pointed out how she recently tried her hand at Ripa’s lip makeup tutorial.

In turn, Peters noted how “it’s so beautiful” on Ripa, as the explained how the trick works.

“What you do is you put a brown line, over your line,” Peters shared, prompting Ripa to clarify, “Outside of your line.”

Peters continued, “Then you put a pink line… outside of that line,” as Ripa added that you then “fill it all in.”

“And I felt like Marilyn Monroe . And then you look in the mirror, but I look like the Joker,” Peters quipped. “She looks beautiful.”

Ripa assured Peters that she still gets “mixed results.”

“Like there are days I have a very steady hand,” she elaborated. “Days where the coffee hasn’t quite kicked in, and I’ve got, like, one side that’s giant, and the other side that’s [not].”

While Peters still praised the practice as basically “a really good technique,” Ripa couldn’t take all of the credit.

“I learned it from watching these kids on Instagram,” she said. “But they go way outside the line. I mean, it’s wild what they do.”

After Peters highlighted that “it works,” she and Ripa shared a sweet moment, calling each other “beautiful.”

Ripa previously opened up about the technique on Live earlier this month, claiming at the time that she lacks the “level of makeup artistry” to paint her entire upper lip like the youngsters she discovered the technique from on social media. She even joked about how “alarming” it was to take her make-up off afterwards.

“Like I was me, and now I’m Gollum, and where did I go?” she teased.
