Lucas Bergvall has set himself an ambitious goal for the upcoming season, expressing his desire to help Tottenham Hotspur win the Premier League.

Bergvall completed his move to North London in February but has only just joined the club from Sweden's first division side Djurgarden.

He has already shown flashes of his quality in preseason, living up to his reputation as one of the top young talents to emerge from Swedish football in recent years.

There was some concern when Bergvall left the field with an injury during the friendly against QPR, but he quickly recovered and played in Tottenham's victory over Vissel Kobe on Saturday.

Talking about the injury, Bergvall said: "Yeah, everything is okay. It’s alright. It was just a little bit with my bone here (points to his hip). It was nothing, but just to be sure [I came off] to not get any worse."

The 18-year-old will face a challenge in adapting to life in the Premier League, as it's a considerable step up in quality from Allsvenskan. He also noted the faster pace of the game in his first few weeks at Spurs.

"It’s a lot faster! It’s what I expected. It’s new for me and I just want to get into it and learn as fast as possible.

"There’s a lot of new first impressions, of course, new people and guys on the team. I’ve been really excited to be here and train. It’s tough but fun of course. It’s been good.

"The first few days here have had a lot of training and I’ve been getting to know everyone in the group. It’s been good," he added.

Bergvall was then asked about his goals for his first season at N17, where he was incredibly ambitious.

"My first goal is to make my Premier League debut and then to come into the team and win something, to have a good season and qualify for the Champions League and also the goal is to win the league," he said.

As optimistic as it sounds, it will undoubtedly make Spurs fans feel good to hear about winning silverware.

Perhaps Bergvall's public declaration of these goals suggest that Postecoglou has instilled a winning mentality within the squad, however, only time will tell.
