SPOILER ALERT: This story contains spoilers for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which is now playing in theaters

Jennifer Garner attended her first Comic-Con over the weekend and it turned into an unforgettable event after she got stuck in an elevator for more than an hour. She documented the incident in a video post published to her Instagram. After two minutes of being stuck, Garner told the camera: “I could use a Wolverine, I could use a Deadpool. I could use someone. Yeah, we’re looking for stairs.”

After 35 minutes, Garner decided to sit down and explained: “I think I heard on an episode of ‘The Office’ or ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ or something that you’re supposed to sit, so we’re sitting.”

It wasn’t until one hour and 11 minutes that firefighters were able to pry open the door and let Garner and her team out of the elevator. The group decided to call 911 after 45 minutes of being trapped inside.

In evoking Deadpool and Wolverine, Garner was, of course, alluding to her cameo in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” in which she reprises the role of Elektra from 2003’s “Daredevil” and 2005’s “Elektra.” Garner was at her first Comic-Con to surprise Marvel fans after a screening of “Deadpool & Wolverine” in Hall H. Leading stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman introduced the screening alongside director Shawn Levy, and they shocked fans by bringing out some of the film’s biggest cameos after the screening ended.

Variety reported in July 2023 that Garner was returning as Elektra in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” so her cameo was mostly expected by Marvel fans. Back in 2021, Garner told THR that she wished the Fox-backed “Daredevil” and “Elektra” had been produced by Kevin Feige as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“It’s such a shame, honestly, because once Kevin took over everything there was elevated: the writing, the direction, the comedy inside of the stories they were telling,” she said at the time. “And I did not have that experience.”

Now Garner is getting a taste of the MCU thanks to her Elektra cameo in “Daredevil & Wolverine,” which earned the sixth biggest box office opening weekend with $211 million.
