We’re getting closer to hearing Lainey Wilson’s highly anticipated album Whirlwind. The record will drop on August 23. In the meantime, Wilson is keeping her fans happy with a series of sample tracks from the album. So far, she has released three tracks—“Country’s Cool Again,” “Hang Tight Honey,” and “4x4xU”—from the forthcoming collection. Today, she announced her next single, “Good Horses” featuring Miranda Lambert will drop Friday (August 2).

Wilson co-wrote “Good Horses” with Luke Dick and Miranda Lambert who also appears on the song. The duo debuted the song during Lambert’s Las Vegas residency. Then, Lambert joined Wilson to perform the song during a Nashville stop on the “Watermelon Moonshine” singer’s Country’s Cool Again Tour.

Lainey Wilson Scores a UK No. 1

As Lainey Wilson gears up to share the next single from Whirlwind, she scored a No. 1 single on the UK Country Airplay chart. The newly-formed chart features the most popular country songs in the United Kingdom. On the latest survey, dated July 28, “Hang Tight Honey” moved from No. 2 to the top of the chart. It dethroned Ella Langley and Riley Green’s collaboration, “You Look Like You Love Me” which now sits at No. 4 on the chart.

Wilson Recalls Writing “Good Horses” with Miranda Lambert

Earlier this year, Lainey Wilson appeared on Audacy’s Totally Private with Katie Neal. During their conversation, Wilson recalled going to Miranda Lambert’s farm to write with her.

“It was May 17. The reason I remember is because it was my Granny’s birthday,” Wilson recalled. “Miranda was like, ‘You need to come out to my farm. You need to, first of all, take a nap. I’m gonna make you take a nap,’” she added.

“We just had a little bit of a writers’ retreat. It wasn’t a forced writers’ retreat. It was like we sleep, we eat, and maybe we write a song,” Wilson explained. “We were sitting on her little balcony of one of her cabins. We were writing this song and they were in the exact same place they were when they wrote ‘Bluebird.’ And, as we were writing the song, three bluebirds flew up. And, when they were writing ‘Bluebird’ three bluebirds flew up, too,” Wilson shared. “I believe in signs like that. I think it’s a really special song.”
