A pipe burst in Arapahoe County, causing a large sinkhole to form in the road.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office , the 8-inch pipe burst underground in the 4300 block of E. Hinsdale Place. The resulting sinkhole was 12 feet wide, with water shooting 15 feet into the air in the residential neighborhood. The cause of the burst is unknown. The intersection of E. Hinsdale Pl. and S. Clermont Dr. was closed.

Denver Water responded to the incident to put a temporary patch on the line, returning later for a more permanent repair. Firefighters from South Metro Fire Rescue were also on scene.
