Curtis Jones has taken advantage of his Liverpool connections to secure a LeBron James meet after the Reds midfielder was spotted chatting with the NBA star at one of his games this week.

Arne Slot's side are currently in the middle of their pre-season tour of the United States as part of preparations for the new season, having already seen off Spanish side Real Betis in their first outing in Pittsburgh on Friday.

The Reds are also due to face last season's Premier League title rivals Arsenal in Philadelphia on Thursday, before taking on Manchester United in Columbia on Sunday. The team will then return home for their final pre-season friendly against Sevilla at Anfield on August 11.

Prior to flying out for the hectic schedule, however, Jones took advantage of his spare time by attending an NBA game in London and meeting up with NBA superstar James, who is a minority stakeholder of the Reds.

In an image uploaded to Twitter , Jones was pictured engaging with the 39-year-old earlier this month. As the NBA star was kitted out in his team's jersey, the Liverpool academy graduate was looking extra dapper in his designer gear and sunglasses.

James is currently competing for the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and recently helped his nation to a 35-25 victory over Serbia in a Preliminary Round tie. As for Jones, he will hope to return to action when Liverpool take on Arsenal at the Lincoln Financial Field in Phildaelphia on Thursday.

The Reds will be hoping to build on their 1-0 victory over Real Betis on Friday when Dominik Szoboszlai netted the only goal of the game to hand Slot his first victory as Liverpool boss. Jones started in central midfield alongside Wataru Endo, although he managed just 31 minutes before being forced off with injury .

Slot is currently sweating over the fitness of the 23-year-old after he limped off with a muscle problem, with further updates expected to come out in the next few days. Speaking after the game, Slot told the club's website: "I think it's too early to tell (how bad it is). He maybe could have played on, but I think maybe you could see he was not at 100 per cent.

"In a friendly game, with so many days coming up in our tour, it was best to take him off. Hopefully he can recover from (it) really fast, but we have to wait and see. We hope he recovers really fast so we can see him in the next few games."
