PROVIDENCE – After seven years as president of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, Teresa Paiva Weed is retiring at the end of this summer, according to a press release from HARI.

“It has been an honor to serve as President of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island and to advocate on behalf of the hospitals in Rhode Island to ensure they can continue to provide the highest quality health care for all Rhode Islanders. I am grateful to the members and the staff for their support,” Paiva Weed said in a statement.

The press release extolled Paiva Weed’s “tireless advocacy” to help secure funding for hospitals and advance health care policy. Under her tenure, HARI also united all the hospitals in the state as members of the association.

Mary Marran, chair of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, said the association is now searching for a new president.

Paiva Weed said she is looking forward to “pursuing interests that allow me the flexibility to spend more time with the people I love.”
