Snoop Dogg Got His Shot To Call Summer Olympics Highlights (Including Badminton) & He Did Not Miss

If your head is spinning and you don’t know where to turn with so many different Summer Olympics events happening all at once in Paris, look no further than Snoop Dogg to be your guiding light — weed-smoking pun intended.
Mike Tirico is just the sports-versatile veteran needed for NBC Sports’ coverage, but he was kind enough to invite Snoop into the studio to take the mic for a highlight segment. The legendary rapper was more than up to the task, with his unique delivery and wordsmith artistry providing a fresh change-up to typical Olympic coverage.
Now that is what you’d call Doggy Fizzle Televizzle. While you can’t help but be impressed with Snoop’s deft ability to get through some swimming hijinks, connecting France’s rugby win to American football, and providing humor for an otherwise sad-looking cycling wipe-out, it was his description of an epic badminton point that served as the high point:
We had the luxury of seeing Snoop in the broadcast booth for a Brewers-Reds MLB game earlier this season, but putting him on the international stage of the Summer Olympics is next level.
Give us more of this at the Olympics. Crash-coursing random sports every four years is taxing. nobody really knows what’s going on in a sport like badminton. Celebs taking celeb shots at highlight packages and guesting on telecasts is a no-brainer.
Also, congratulations if you had a Snoop Dogg-Billie Jean King meet-up on your Olympics bingo card.
Maybe we can get Snoop’s take on Caitlin Clark’s Olympic snub next. Good on Dawn Staley for addressing Clark’s omission, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the NBC team be a little more critical in their coverage on that particular topic.
Because I don’t know, has the USA women’s basketball team even played a game yet? I’ve seen nothing so far…
