Grimes’ Mother Pleads With Elon Musk to End “Withholding” Ex-Couple’s Children

The mother of indie electro-pop musician Grimes took to X this weekend to plead with Elon Musk, t he platform’s owner and father to her three grandchildren, to stop withholding his and Grimes’ kids from Grimes so that the kids can visit their dying nonagenarian great-grandmother in Canada.

Grimes, 36, whose real name is Claire Boucher, filed a suit for parental rights against Musk in September in the Superior Court of California. Grimes also suggested in since-deleted posts around then that Musk was withholding one of her sons from her, her mother Sandy Garossino wrote on Saturday on X, stating that reaching out to Musk on his platform was her last resort after all other avenues were exhausted.

“Dear Elon @elonmusk It was nice seeing you on Father’s Day. I hope you got the card that I helped X make. He was so proud of it. I’m writing here as the only way I have to reach you,” Garossino wrote. “As you know, my 93-year-old mother is now at end-of-life palliative care. She yearns to see and hold Claire’s children one last time. Especially the youngest, whom she has not yet met.”

While Grimes and Musk dated on and off for years, they had three children together —  4-year-old X Æ A-Xii, also known as X; 2-year-old Exa Dark Sideræl , aka Y; and Techno Mechanicus, aka Tau, who is 2 years old.

Garossino continued of her mother, “She was thrilled for the kids’ planned visit to celebrate her birthday this weekend. Today. But those hopes were crushed when the trip was canceled.

“I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from Claire,” the kids’ grandmother claimed in her post. “It was even more troubling to see you and X on television at the Olympics in Paris yesterday, after your DC trip earlier in the week.”

Garossino, a columnist who previously worked as a trial attorney, according to her X bio, asked Musk point blank: “Where are the other children, and with whom? They are scheduled to be with their mother. They were expected here in Canada.”

Garossino concludes by writing, “with a grandmother’s plea, asking you to honor your agreement, return the children, and provide the documents they need to see their great grandmother before she passes. Please Elon, I beg you. This is so painful for my mother, and concerning for the kids. Time is of the essence now.”

Musk has 12 known children with three different women; he welcomed a third child with Neuralink exec Shivon Zilis earlier this year.

Grimes, Musk and Garossino have not yet responded to The Hollywood Reporter ‘s request for comment.

Grimes once described her relationship with Musk as “very fluid” but announced a breakup on Twitter in March 2022 . The “Oblivion” singer-producer wrote, “Me and E have broken up *again* … but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now.”
