Getting a dog is a big responsibility. In addition to ensuring we’re home to let them out after work, we must also carve out time in our schedule for play, feeding, and exercise. It's also essential to have reliable care when we travel, but as most parents can attest, it's hard to leave them home at all.

While this dog’s parents may have been jet-setters before having a pup, they now have a different idea of vacations. However, having this adorable face with you on your journey is even better than visiting a foreign land.

Check out this video from July 11 to see their new way of enjoying a holiday.

I understand this situation so well. Even though there may be plenty of things in the world that I may wish to see, nothing makes me happier than seeing a smile on my dog's face. That’s why Tommy’s (@ tommybluestaff ) parents now opt to take road trips with their beloved pal. Who could leave that sweet face behind? This road-tripping partner also appears to be pretty happy with this decision. Whether snuggled in a campsite, napping in the backseat, or strolling on the beach, he is always so joyful. No matter how long it is, our time with them is brief, so it’s easy to understand why these parents want to make the most of each day together.

Ways to Make Road Trips Easier for Dogs

    1. Bring their favorite blanket, pillow, or bed to sleep on in the car or at a hotel.

    2. To keep them safe while traveling , they should be kept in a crate or on a secure harness to prevent injury or ejection in the event of an accident.

    3. Bring their bowls, food, water, toys, and many healthy treats.

    4. Allow time for plenty of stops so that they can sniff, explore, drink, use the bathroom, and stretch their legs. It’s their vacation, too, after all.

Dog lovers understood where this family was coming from. Viewer @rocco_the_only_child remarked, “Omg, I know. I’ve said no to many trips because I hate leaving my babies. People ask me to come along, and my first question is: Is it dog-friendly?” It’s a fair question. Another parent shared, “Drove almost all the way through Mexico just me and my dog; it was the best road trip I’ve ever had, hands down.” Having a good time with someone grateful to be by your side is easy. Viewer @annemarlenejosephine shared, “We’re driving from Colorado to California solely because we want to bring our girl with us to the beach.” Although it might take longer, it’s always worthwhile.

While traveling internationally can be fun, it can’t compare to the memories we make with our fur babies. And, when they’re with us, we don’t have to wonder how they are doing back home.
