Erica Ash, best known to TV audiences for her starring role on Survivor’s Remorse , has died after a long cancer battle. She was 46 years old.

Ash’s mother Diann confirmed her daughter’s passing in a statement to TVLine, which reads as follows:

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.  In honor of Erica’s memory, the family asks that any donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or the Breast Cancer Foundation of your choice. We are grateful for the kind expressions of love and support during this difficult time.

Ash began her TV career in sketch comedy. Following a two-season run on Logo’s The Big Gay Sketch Show , the comedian was cast in the 14th and final season of Fox’s MADtv , on which she impersonated such pop culture figures as Whoopi Goldberg, Naomi Campbell, Mo’Nique, Lisa Leslie, Raven-Symoné and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Following Survivor’s Remorse , Ash headlined the short-lived BET legal drama In Contempt , on which she played opinionated public defender Gwen Sullivan. Subsequent TV credits included episodes of A Black Lady Sketch Show, Bless the Harts, Family Reunion and Sacrifice .

Her final TV credit was a January 2024 episode of NBC’s Extended Family , which hailed from Survivor’s Remorse creator Mike O’Malley.
