    1 dead after side-by-side flips in Monongalia County

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — One person was pronounced dead following a side-by-side crash in Monongalia County over the weekend.

    According to a release from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, at around 8:11 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, Monongalia County deputies responded to River Road near the Opekiska Lock and Dam for a single-vehicle accident.

    When deputies arrived on the scene, they said they found a Polaris 1000 side-by-side rolled over on top of the driver, who was later pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. They also said that the accident occurred near the intersection of Edna Gas Road on the railroad tracks. The railroad company was contacted and service was shut down until the area was clear.

    The release said that there were no witnesses to the accident and that no further information will be released at this time.
