    Erica Ash, ‘Survivor’s Remorse’ Actor, Dies at 46

    Erica Ash, who played M-Chuck in the Starz drama “Survivor’s Remorse” and worked on shows like “MADtv,” died Monday of cancer. She was 46.

    Ash’s family confirmed her death and her mother Diann paid tribute to her daughter with a statement that reads, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantal Ash (1977-2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life. Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.”

    The comedian and actor also starred in shows like “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” and “In Contempt” throughout her career. Ash also guest starred on series like “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” “Family Reunion” and more.

    In “Scary Movie V,” she played Kendra Brooks, and Ash also appeared in 19 episodes of “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”

    In “Survivor’s Remorse,” she portrayed Mary Charles Calloway (“M-Chuck”), the half-sister of pro basketball player Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher) who moves his family to Atlanta after signing a basketball contract, in all four seasons of the show.

    She joined the cast of “MADtv” for its 14th and final season in 2008, where she portrayed celebrities like Naomi Campell, Whoopie Goldberg, Lisa Leslie and more.

    Ash graduated from Emory University with a degree in pre-medicine, but ultimately decided to pursue a career in entertainment. She toured with the Broadway rendition of “The Lion King” early on in her career, and eventually became a cast member on “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” created by Rosie O’Donnell. Ash appeared on the show for its first two seasons of the series alongside actors like Kate McKinnon and Colman Domingo.

    Ash’s family has requested that donations be made to Susan G. Komen f o r t h e C u r e or another breast cancer foundation.
