AMC has shared the official Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 trailers for the next installments of its hit Walking Dead spin-offs. Daryl Dixon is slated to make its return on September 29, while production on Dead City Season 2 is still currently underway.

In addition to the trailer releases, AMC has also announced the Season 3 renewal of the Norman Reedus-led series, which is expected to take place in Spain. During the recent Walking Dead panel at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, Reedus confirmed that he will once again lead the third installment with Melissa McBride.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce a third season and to be working side by side with the brilliant Melissa McBride,” Reedus said. “Season two is some of my favorite storytelling of this series. Watching Melissa shine along with our brilliant cast and crew has been one of my fondest memories playing this character. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it and we can’t wait to keep the story going.”

What happens in the Daryl Dixon & Dead City Season 2 trailers?

The Daryl Dixon Season 2 trailer highlights next-level action sequences for the titular character while he continues to contemplate whether it was right for him to stay in France or not. It also teases Carol’s complicated journey to France in order to find her best friend.

“The Book of Carol picks up where season one left off, following fan-favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier (McBride),” reads the logline for Season 2. “They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France, causing tension at the Nest. Additionally, Genet (Anne Charrier)’s movement builds momentum, setting Pouvoir on a violent collision course with the Union of Hope in the fight for France’s future.”

As for the Dead City Season 2 trailer, it shows Lauren Cohan’s Maggie traveling to New York City once again in an attempt to seemingly rescue Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan. The video also highlights Negan’s reunion with his deadly baseball bat, Lucille, as he goes back to his old ways.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is created and executive produced by Eli Jorné, who also serves as the showrunner. The cast also includes Gaius Charles, Mahina Napoleon, Željko Ivanek, Jonathan Higginbotham, Trey Santiago-Hudson, Logan Kim, and Charlie Solis.

“In Season 2, in the growing war for control of Manhattan, Maggie and Negan find themselves trapped on opposite sides,” reads the logline for Season 2. “As their paths intertwine, they come to see that the way out for both is more complicated and harrowing than they ever imagined.”
