COLYER, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Department of Transportation has closed a lane of Interstate 70 under a bridge that has been repeatedly struck by vehicles.

The 150th Avenue bridge over I-70 east of Colyer Trego County has been closed since March . The department says the bridge has been struck numerous times by overheight loads.

The maximum height clearance for the bridge is 14 feet 9 inches, but some trailers, like car haulers, can exceed that height. KDOT reported earlier this month that the bridge had been struck again, causing debris to fall down onto the roadway.

KDOT says eastbound right lane of Interstate 70 is closed under the bridge, with speeds reduced to 60 mph through the area. The department says repair work on the bridge is expected to begin this fall.

Crews are currently making repairs to bridges on I-70 in Trego County east of WaKeeney and Ogallah that are expected to be completed in early October.
