Angry Popeyes customer fumes about fast-food restaurant for overcharging her $12 and says employees ‘don’t care’

A POPEYES diner has slammed the popular chain for allegedly overcharging by $12 for a family meal.
She was angry about being “offered a paltry $5 coupon” - and claimed the restaurant’s staff snubbed her family.
It comes amid a report that Popeyes counters across Southeast Texas have been spotted unmanned due to staff shortages.
The fast food chain - which has more than 3,000 restaurants across the US - was accused of ripping off a customer.
The diner ranted about her alleged experience at an Ohio branch on X/Twitter last Tuesday.
"Popeyes your store at 1200 South Arlington St, Akron Ohio 44306 stole $11.99 from me, when my husband purchased your Picnic family box," she claimed.
"We never received drinks, were overcharged by $11.99 and was offered a paltry $5-coupon.
"The store stole my money. And, you don't care."
The U.S. Sun has contacted Popeyes for comment on her accusations.
UNDERSTAFFED
Meanwhile, the chain has also come under fire in Southeast Texas, after employees complained to local CBS-affiliate KFDM, in Beaumont, over tardy pay checks.
The station claimed on Saturday that counters in the region appear to be understaffed as a result of workers quitting the chain.
Several unhappy employees complained to the broadcaster about receiving late pay for the 6th pay period in a row.
Shemar Collins, general manager of the Popeyes on Calder, said five staff had quit his outlet as a result of late payments.
"I had to pay 140 extra dollars in late fees for my rent, I wasn't able to pay my rent until the 12th of this month," said Collins.
What are Popeyes' rewards?
Diners can earn 10 points for every dollar spent on the Popeyes app or on Popeyes.com.
These points can then be redeemed for menu items.
Features and benefits include 'Happy Hour' Tuesday / Thursday, or bonus points on combos and family meals.
The happy hour allows diners to unlock $2 regular sides Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Those on the reward program can also enjoy a free apple pie on their birthday.
Popeyes offers freebies too - such as a cinnamon apple pie, a small drink, or a regular side - with $5 minimum purchases.
Employees are currently being paid every three weeks instead of fortnightly, he added.
Wyland Wyngarde, a chef at Calder, said it was "really heartbreaking" that pay problems had also impacted on younger family members.
"Like I literally breakdown if I can't buy pack of wipes, pampers, bottles, anything. That hurt me," said Wyngarde.
The U.S. Sun has also asked Popeyes for an official comment in regards to the pay problem complaints.
CARDI B CLIPS WINGS
It comes as Cardi B last week shared her shocking reaction to Popeyes' new honey lemon pepper flavored wings.
“Popeyes y’all really fumbled with this flavor because this flavor is not it,” the rapper said on Instagram.
"This lemon pepper flavor with honey or this sweet taste on it, it’s just not good. It tastes like a f***ing Sprite soda. I don’t f***ing like it."
TMZ reported last Wednesday that although the singer publicly trashed the new chicken wings, Popeyes' bosses were thrilled with her review.
After being asked to comment on the star rating them a paltry two out of 10, Popeyes welcomed the publicity.
"If you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. And we are in the kitchen. A lot," said a spokesperson.
"We welcome all wing rankings and reviews as we believe variety is the spice of life and that's why we have six flavors for wing enthusiasts like Cardi to enjoy."
