Report: Rey Fenix’s AEW Contract Set To Expire This Year

Rey Fenix ‘s AEW contract is set to expire soon, according to a new report.

Rey Fenix has been with AEW since 2019. He is one-half of the Lucha Brothers alongside his brother. Penta El Zero Miedo. Penta and Fenix are former AEW World Tag Team Champions. They have also held the ROH World Tag Team Championship. As a singles competitor, Fenix is a former AEW International Champion.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select ) reports that Rey Fenix’s contract will expire this year. The exact timing is unclear. Per AEW sources, the company wants to keep Fenix and Penta, whose deal is also coming up. Sapp writes that offers were extended, and the two sides have had talks. The report also notes that Fenix is expected to have interest from WWE.

Outside of AEW, Fenix has won titles in IMPACT Wrestling/TNA, AAA, and MLW, among other promotions. He also had a memorable run in Lucha Underground.

Penta El Zero Miedo On The Lucha Brothers

The Lucha Brothers are one of the most decorated tag teams in wrestling. Penta El ero Miedo recently highlighted the duo’s impact. Speaking on COMIENDO CARNITAS , he discussed their run together. (H/t Luis Pulido of Fightful for the transcription/translation)

I believe the Lucha Bros changed the business and the only wrestlers that got close to us when we started was The Young Bucks. When we wrestled on the BOLA in PWG, they (Bucks) did not know us.

“They knew we were brothers and there was some tension as it was another brother tag team, but they are professionals during the match and they learned who we were after the reception on that match because the fans knew who we were and why we had matching gear and face paint. After we had the match, The Young Bucks came up to us and said they wanted to work more with us, and that The Young Bucks tell you that while being champions is a big deal.”
