Five NFL Quarterbacks Who Could Breakout In 2024

One of the best surprises of each NFL season is when a player has a breakout season. This could come early on, like when Lamar Jackson won MVP in his first full season as a starter, or later in a player’s career, like when Geno Smith proved the doubters wrong and took the Seahawks to the postseason in 2022.

While there are so many guesses every year, usually give only a couple of players who will break out. Here are three players who have a lot of potential and could breakout during the 2024 NFL season.

    Will Levis - Tennessee Titans

Will Levis could be a dark-horse MVP candidate in 2024

Will Levis has a chance to prove he is a franchise quarterback for the Tennessee Titans in 2024. He showed his potential last season with four touchdown passes in his first game. While he finished the year slow, he did lead a big comeback against the Miami Dolphins late in the season.

In my article I wrote about Levis’ potential breakout, here’s what I said about the former Kentucky quarterback's epic comeback. “ One game that made me believe in him was the 28-27 comeback win against Miami. Down 27-13 with 4:34 left in the game, Levis orchestrated two quick touchdown drives between a stop by the defense. He led the Titans offense downfield in 26 seconds, including two throws for 52 yards, which set up a Derrick Henry touchdown. The two-point conversion on the first touchdown drive allowed Folk to kick an extra point to give Tennessee the lead and, ultimately, the victory. ”

    Anthony Richardson

Anthony Richardson is poised to breakout in his sophomore season in Indy

The most talked about second-year quarterback who could break out in 2024 is Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson. The young quarterback showed flashes early last season until an injury forced him to miss the majority of the season. The former Florida quarterback is very mobile and was explosive in both the air and on the ground.

As long as AR5 stays healthy in 2024, he could have a Lamar Jackson-type breakout season. The Ravens quarterback broke out in his sophomore season in 2019 where he threw for 36 touchdowns and added over 1,000 rushing yards en route to winning his first MVP award and leading Baltimore to the league’s best record. The former Gators quarterback has all the tools to replicate that season, especially with a better receiving corp than Jackson had.

    Bryce Young

Bryce Young could take Panthers to new heights in 2024

Nobody had a more stressful season than Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. The 2023 first-overall pick had such high expectations and was greeted to an offensive line ranked one of the worst in the league, a unsuccessful running game, and a receiving group that was weak outside of 33-year-old Adam Thielen.

The Panthers took note and gave a lot of money to fix the offensive line and traded for wide receiver Dionte Johnson as well. The team also drafted flashy running back Jonathan Brooks in the second-round of this year’s NFL Draft. This Carolina offense is much better than it was a year ago and should give Young a good chance at having a successful year.

    Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams looks to be the franchise quarterback Chicago desperately needs

The 2024 first-overall pick has all the tools to breakout this season. With one of the best receiving corps in the NFL, an improving offensive line, and a team good enough to compete for a playoff spot, Caleb Williams has a good chance to have one of the best rookie seasons ever.

While he may not have an MVP-type season, he has a chance to break nearly every Chicago Bears rookie record and even some all-time passing records. If Williams can be even as half good as he was at USC, he will be a household name for years to come.

    Justin Fields

Justin Fields looks for fresh start in the Steel City

Justin Fields enters a complex situation entering his fourth season in the league. After three years with the Chicago Bears, which was considered a disappointment after a successful career at Ohio State, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Fields not expected to start this season in the Steel City and will sit behind Russell Wilson, how will the former first-round pick breakout in 2024? He has so much talent that he could take over the starting job sooner than later, especially if Wilson struggles. With an improved offensive line and good weapons to throw to in Pat Freiermuth and George Pickens, Fields has a good chance at finally living his potential in the black and gold.
