Jack Kidd Dies; Head Grip For ‘The Bold & The Beautiful’ Was 60

Jack Kidd, the head grip for The Bold and the Beautiful , died July 25. He was 60.

Kidd was involved in an accident off of Little Tujunga Road. He last was seen July 25 leaving his home in Canyon Country and was declared missing by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department.

IATSE Local 33 wrote Sunday on Facebook that the cause of the accident is still under investigation and that members of the union helped with the search.

Born May 20, 1964 in Artesia, CA, Kidd attended Van Nuys High School and played trumpet in the school band. He joined the IATSE Local 33 in 1990, once served as a board member and became an employee of Television City Studios in 1995.

Kidd joined B&B in 2014. He previously worked as a head grip for Real Time with Bill Maher and Survivor and took gigs at several venues throughout Los Angeles such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Dolby Theater, the Los Angeles Music Center and Crypto.com Arena.

“He came in early every day to make sure the production was ready to go,” according to a family statement. “Anytime a co-worker had a question, problem or situation, Jack was always willing to help. If someone needed a hand, Jack was there.”

“Jack was the best I have come across in my 40 years as an art director,” wrote Jack Forrestel, B&B ‘s production designer, on Facebook. “Everyday that he built our sets on Stage 31 at TVC, over the past two decades, he had my trust and gratitude for a job well done. He was the best at what he did and I’m struggling to understand and to express my feelings at this great loss to me personally, and to my Art director, Fabrice Kenwood, who shares the trust and love that Jack showed us in his fine work. My heart and thanks go out to his family at this very sad time, for sharing him with us all these years.”

Away from work, Kidd was a Dodger fan and a big family man.

“Jack donated what little time he had to help coach his son’s little league team, take the family camping which was usually in San Clemente or El Capitan beach,” the family statement continued. “Jack took extreme pride in driving the lead truck for his daughter’s high school marching band.”

Kidd is survived by his wife Missy, who he married in July 1987; his children Ally, Erin and Jackson; one grandchild with another on the way; his mother Virginia, and his sister Janine Holliman.
