Richard Simmons ' house manager, Teresa Reveles , opened up about discovering her boss dead in his home.

The fitness guru died just one day before his 76th birthday in July after a reported fall. After he tumbled, Teresa suggested they go to the hospital, but, instead, he refused and spent time in bed. Teresa found him dead in his bedroom the following morning. While his cause of death is still being investigated , Teresa believes he died of a heart attack thereafter.

She told People , "When I saw him, he looked peaceful ... That’s why I know it was a heart attack. I had a heart attack a few years ago, and my hands did the same."

Teresa explained that his hands were balled into fists. The memory brought Teresa to sorrowful tears as she explained their platonic relationship to the publication, but she was insistent that it was important to speak about him and remember him.

She made a distinction about her role in the house. While reports originally noted her as a housekeeper, she specified that was a different person on staff, but Teresa was truly the one to discover Richard upon his death. She explained that her role in his life was more as a platonic partner.

When Teresa originally came to work with Richard, she expected to have a trial run to see if she liked it. However, the kind soul told her, "Teresa, come in, you are never going to leave. We are going to be together until I die." Richard fulfilled his wish with Teresa remaining at his side for nearly 36 years.

She recalled her companion's busy work schedule, saying he was "never home." Richard would leave for ten days at time for work, sometimes making stops back at home for clothes and to check in with his furry friends. When he stepped away from the public eye, Teresa explained, it was because he felt he was getting too old to keep up with the fitness legacy he'd created.

Teresa said: "He thought he looked too old. He did not want anyone to see him, but Richard looked the same. Okay, maybe a little older, like me, because we have to age. A little less hair. But he weighed the same, mostly. He was not as skinny.”

Upon Richard's death, Teresa realized that everything had unfolded the way he wanted. Richard, according to her, wanted to die first.
