The Decatur County Commissioners met for their second monthly meeting last Tuesday evening. Following the invocation, pledge and approval of the agenda, one member of the public took to the podium to address the commissioners, voicing complaints about the performance county road crews and the commissioner’s handling of them.

Following this, the commissioners approved the minutes both from the regular meeting earlier that month, as well as their specially-called meeting with the Board of Tax Assessors.

No old business was discussed. The first item of new business on the agenda was a Corps of Engineers lease agreement for Smith Landing, which the commissioners voted to renew.

Next on the agenda, the commissioners heard a proposal for a lease agreement, this one brought by solar company Greenergy USA, LLC, which seeks to lease three parcels of land owned by the county. County Administrator Alan Thomas stated that several of the commissioners had requested more research to be done on the company before making a decision, and it was decided to bring the issue back before the county at a later date.

Following this, the commissioners went into an executive session to discuss real estate acquisitions and personnel; no action was taken on the real estate, and for personnel, it was voted for Thomas to continue his services through next year.

Following this, the commissioners gave their closing remarks, and the meeting was adjourned.
