Golden Retrievers make amazing family pets because of the close bond they form with their people. Not only are they loving, loyal companions for adults, but they're equally devoted to any human siblings in the home. This is especially true for one Golden named Skylar who adores time with her human brother so much, she doesn't care what they do, as long as it's together.

In a TikTok video shared by Dev ( @skylars.the.limitt ), the sweet pup shows how a little patience with her brother goes a long way. Watch their heartwarming interaction!

In the adorable video captioned, "Goldens really are so good with kids," Skylar's brother tosses his plastic balls to her in a montage of scenes together.

"My toddler wanted to share his ball with his big sister," the video says. "But even though she normally loves balls, she knows they each have their own set of toys. And despite all his attempts to get her to play, she just lay there keeping him company. Because more than any ball, what she really wanted was to be near her best friend."

Through the 21-second clip, Skylar is a patient girl. who just loves her brother's company. Among their many followers, one person asked how she learned to leave her brother's toys alone and she offered amazing advice.

"A LOT of training! Leave it and drop it were some big ones for this. Lots and lots of treats and reinforcing when she didnā€™t steal his toys," Dev said. "Rather than waiting just to constantly say drop it or leave it ie negative attention, make sure to give lots of positive attention when sheā€™s doing the right thing."

No wonder Skylar is so great. She's not just learning how to be a good dog, but how to be the best big sister and it shows.

    Training Your Dog Patience

Skylar's mastered patience but as Dev said, it took training her to be this way. Dogs are naturally smart, and they generally love to learn and please their people. The American Kennel Club says teaching your dog patience takes patience on your part, because they're not always going to get a command overnight. It can take weeks or even months of consistent training for impulse control to kick in.

Ignoring bad behaviors and rewarding good behavior with high-value treats goes a long way. Also, when introducing something like a new collar, do it slowly to desensitize them to it, adding more time they're wearing it each day. By the time they're to keep it on for a walk, they won't care.

As with everything, be persistent with lots of positive reenforcement and your dog will be as cool, calm, and collected as Skylar, too!
