    Woman carrying US passport found chained to tree in Indian jungle after shepherd heard cries for help

    A 50-year-old woman carrying a US passport copy was found bound to a tree with an iron chain .

    Among the possessions found on her person were various documents , including an Aadhaar card indicating an address in Tamil Nadu, and a photocopy of her US passport. The woman was identified as Lalita Kayi. However, her passport is no longer valid, prompting authorities to verify the authenticity of these documents to ascertain her nationality . The woman was tracked down in a dense forest located in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra.

    This unsettling situation was brought to light by a shepherd in the Sonurli hamlet, approximately 450 kilometers away, who heard the woman's cries for help on Saturday night and promptly alerted the authorities. The woman's condition and the circumstances surrounding her confinement are currently under investigation by local law enforcement.
