Tomorrow : The heat returns with more scattered showers and storms. The best chance will be over eastern Alabama. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds and heavy rain. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s, and the heat index will be around 105°. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 9 PM.

Rest of the Week : A heat dome, or upper-level area of high pressure, will sit over the Southern Plains States Wednesday through Friday. Alabama will be on the eastern edge of it. This will make Central Alabama very hot and humid with only a few showers each day. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s. The heat index will be dangerous as it sits around 105-110°. Find ways to stay cool and hydrated!

Weekend Outlook : The weather pattern starts to change this weekend. The heat dome will weaken and move to the west. A trough of low pressure will move over the eastern U.S. and send a weak cold front into Alabama. Saturday and Sunday will still be hot and humid, but we will have scattered storms popping up. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s, and the heat index will be 105-110°.

Tracking the Tropics : A cluster of thunderstorms over the Central Tropical Atlantic will interact with a westward moving tropical wave in a few days. Some development is forecast and a tropical depression could form as it approaches the Lesser Antilles later this week. NHC is giving this system a medium chance to develop.
