I love you Geminis —not least of all because you have quite the astrological reputation. Some might call you flaky, two-faced or unpredictable , but let’s be real, those people are just jealous. It’s not easy to keep up with your dazzling wit, impeccable taste and relentless sense of adventure ! (Believe me, I’ve tried!) Some insist you’re never going to be ready to settle down, but you love love just as much as you love waxing poetic about the critical theory in every episode of Gossip Girl . So, who makes you swoon? Which signs are worthy of both your hot takes and your eloquent insights? Here is my definitive Gemini compatibility ranking.

    Meet the Astrologer

Jaime Wright pens moon missives , an ever-evolving astrology writing project that began in 2016 as an email zine and since 2021, publishes as a weekly astro-cultural newsletter. She also writes a weekly and monthly horoscope column for PureWow, hosts the good fortune! podcast, and is the house astrologer for Jovian and Errands .

    Gemini Personality Traits

Geminis, born between May 21 and June 20, are known for their dual nature. Represented by the twins, they are versatile, communicative and intellectually curious. As an air sign, Geminis are social butterflies who thrive on interactions and love to share their thoughts and ideas. They are ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, which gives them their gift of gab and ability to adapt to different situations quickly.

How We Ranked The Best & Worst Zodiac Compatible Signs for Geminis

To determine the compatibility of each sign with Gemini, I considered astrological charts, personality traits and relationship dynamics. My rankings are based on my personal work as a astrologer, which includes my own astrological studies, personal experiences and insights from other respected astrologers. I took this well-rounded method to help provide a comprehensive view of Gemini compatibility that may differ from other sources.

What signs are most compatible with Geminis?

    1. Gemini and Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

This might be a surprise to other signs— “Isn’t Gemini too aloof for Pisces?” “Isn’t Pisces too weepy for Gemini?” But any Gemini who loves (or has loved) a Pisces knows that this is the match. Pisces and Gemini are both mutable signs which means if nothing else, they go with the flow. Gemini gives Pisces the deep respect that the fish deserves (other signs tend to write them off as “too emo to function”). In return, Pisces makes Gemini feel truly seen, like they’re always at home. These two really connect on an almost cellular level. It’s an instant soulmate bond. Pisces is also the only sign that can turn restless Gemini into a couch potato. For these two, there’s no heaven quite like being themselves (and binging The Great British Baking Show ) together.

    2. Gemini and Libra (September 23 - October 22)

Gemini and Libra are both geeks and love to geek out together. This is a true intellectual match where both feel comfortable showing off their freaky (and kinky) sides . A first date with these two lasts for hours whether they’re gossiping about a mutual acquaintance or debating critical theory. They literally never run out of things to talk about and once they commit to each other, they usually develop their own secret language or code (much to the annoyance of everyone around them who isn’t in on the joke). Both are extremely driven and charismatic and even though both like to flirt outside of the relationship, who says jealousy isn’t a turn on? These two have unmatched chemistry and never grow bored of each other. Truly an A+ connection.

    3. Gemini and Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Gemini and Aries are a power couple. Just like with Leo, Gemini is immediately attracted to Aries’ confidence, but also appreciates that Aries isn’t trying so hard to stand out. These two know how to let their guards down together and care very little about poise or sophistication. Aries is an amazing cheerleader, always getting Gemini pumped up to show their best self to the world. In return, Gemini is a muse for Aries, inspiring many of the ram’s best ideas. Together, Gemini and Aries are fearless and encourage each other to explore their kinkier side in the bedroom . The only problem with this relationship is that it can sometimes feel like Peter Pan hanging out with the lost boys and neither ever wants to be the adult in the room. As long as one never bosses the other around though, this match can certainly last.

    4. Gemini and Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Though other signs might be intimidated when two Geminis come together, this is in many ways a perfect match. Yes, both are flaky, indirect and hard to pin down. But no one calls a Gemini out like another Gemini. For example: Two people meet on a dating app. They chat, flirt and make a date. An hour before the date, one (a known Gemini) tries to cancel on the other (also a Gemini) because he just doesn’t feel like it. The other says “I get you,” but encourages them to meet anyway. Both make it to the date (late, of course), grab a drink and sit down. Both are so used to having to steer every conversation that how easily things flow between them is an immediate turn on. Flirtation gets heavy and sparks fly! As they kiss goodbye, one Gemini says to the other, “See? This never would have happened if you flaked!” before disappearing into the night, keeping both of their interests peaked. Before you know it, they’re living together. This relationship isn’t always about the chase, but both know how to be playful and keep the mystery alive!

    5. Gemini and Leo (July 23 - August 22)

When culture vulture Gemini meets style maven Leo , the sparks definitely fly! Leo is immediately impressed by Gemini’s intellect and Gemini can’t get enough of Leo’s party animal ways. These two are the couple that dances all night at the club and keeps going through brunch the next day. Everyone wants to be around their good vibes! Together, they’re royalty! This is the JFK (Gemini) and Jackie O (Leo) relationship after all. The only problem with this connection is that sometimes it’s too much of a good thing. Neither is ever lacking in the self-confidence department so if one ever damages the other’s ego—well, that’s a declaration of war. As long as these two are able to gas each other up though, it’s a match made in heaven.

    6. Gemini and Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

Like Gemini, Aquarius has a reputation for being aloof. It’s not that these two air signs don’t care, it’s that they both value their freedom more than anything else. When Gemini and Aquarius get together, it’s a real meeting of the minds. More than any other sign, Aquarius pushes Gemini to get serious about their goals and make their dreams come true. In return, Gemini inspires Aquarius to connect with their passions and have more fun. Gemini brings out Aquarius’ inner child! Though these two aren’t the most romantic match, they’re definitely a power couple. Other signs (like Taurus or Cancer) might crave more of a fairytale story, but these hilarious geniuses are happy to do their own thing. Independence is bliss!

What signs are least compatible with Geminis?

    7. Gemini and Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)

This match shouldn’t work, but somehow...it does. Maybe because these two are the most consistently maligned signs of the zodiac, they bond over everyone’s ridiculous misconceptions of them . They get off on being misunderstood. Gemini is freewheeling while Scorpio is serious as a heart attack. But they bring out the best in each other. No one appreciates Scorpio’s (dark) sense of humor like Gemini, and no one asks Gemini the hard questions like Scorpio. Even though Scorpio is a fixed sign and too much consistency is a major turn off for Gemini, Scorpio is also ruled by Mars. Scorpio wants to keep moving as much as Gemini wants to keep talking. Though these two don’t find each other easily, when they do get together: It’s meant to be.

    8. Gemini and Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Gemini and Sagittarius are opposite signs. Debatably, of all the opposites in the zodiac, these two are actually the most similar. Both love freedom, exploration and know the value of a good debate. When they come together, their arguments are their foreplay. Geminis are like curious kids at a party, always asking “Why?” and wanting to find out as much information as possible (about anything and everything). Sagittarians on the other hand, like to make small talk into a PhD dissertation. Though these two both get off on intellect and find each other sexy and exciting, Gemini might find Sagittarius a bit pretentious and lacking a sense of humor. Every conversation doesn’t need to begin with a thesis statement! Sometimes, Gemini just wants to vibe.

    9. Gemini and Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

Gemini and Virgo are both ruled by communication planet Mercury. These two have a lot in common and an instant rapport. Both are obsessed with collecting information, dissecting it and proving to everyone that they’re right. They’re mutually gifted at telling stories, crafting projects and keeping up with dozens of group chats. This can make them a match made in heaven (if their preferences align) or each other’s worst nightmare (if they come from opposite ends of any spectrum). Gemini especially loves to challenge those with differing opinions, never resting until they get to the bottom of why someone is the way they are. This can be extremely stressful to Virgo who is also curious but way more sensitive than Gemini. Though we’d love to be a fly on the wall for any conversation between these two, we can’t promise that they’ll get along.

    10. Gemini and Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Like Taurus, Cancer is another sign that loves comfort and stability. Cancers are known for being the mom of the zodiac. And though many signs run to Cancer for comfort, connection and a delicious home cooked meal, Geminis can’t stand their bossiness. And TBH, they often find Cancers to be pretty boring. Cancers are a cardinal (aka leadership) sign, so ultimately they want to be in charge. Geminis prefer to answer to no one. Though these two signs sit right next to each other on the zodiac (and they’re more similar than they’d like to believe), they’ll never see eye to eye. Gemini’s elusiveness annoys Cancer to no end. They can have a great bougie night on the town though but for everyone’s sake, they should skip going home together at the end of the date.

    11. Gemini and Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

With Taurus as the most loyal sign in the zodiac and Gemini having an extremely flirtatious reputation, these two only come together when they’re looking for trouble. This match causes instant and constant drama. Taurus just wants stability and Gemini just wants freedom. And though these things don’t have to be diametrically opposed, the more Taurus tries to control Gemini’s schedule, the more Gemini rebels. Why the constant Netflix and chill when there’s so much to explore? These two are initially attracted to each other’s optimistic outlook—both are springtime babies with a general zest for life. But once Gemini realizes that Taurus is content with ordering the same eggs Benedict at the same brunch spot for all eternity, the spark is extinguished. Life without novelty is death for a Gemini.

    12. Gemini and Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

On paper, Gemini and Capricorn have almost nothing in common and this is pretty true in practice as well. While Capricorns are traditionalists, Geminis are obsessed with current culture. While Geminis can barely schedule their day, Capricorns always have a 30-year plan. One’s texting 67 people at a time while the other is methodically keeping a bullet journal . Mutable air meets Cardinal earth: How could they possibly get along? The one thing that could bring these two together is a mutual love of antiques or classic luxury items. These two could even have an amazing day wandering galleries at the Met or the Museum of Natural History. Wherever lots of information meets history, these two are on the same page. That is, until Gemini gets bored and quickly moves onto the next thing.

Can You Have a Successful Relationship with a Gemini If Your Signs Aren't Compatible?

Absolutely! Compatibility goes beyond just astrological signs. I have seen supposedly toxic Gemini and Capricorn couples that are far more compatible than more favorable pairings because they put in the work that a relationship takes to really understand each other and communciate. With effort, communication, and understanding, any relationship can thrive. It’s about embracing each other’s differences and finding common ground.

Is There a Difference in Friendship vs. Love Compatibility with Geminis?

Yes, there can be. In friendships, Geminis often seek intellectual stimulation and shared adventures (which is why you might find a Gem and an Aquarius really hitting it off as colleagues in the office). In romantic relationships, they value communication, trust and mutual interests. Understanding these nuances can help in fostering both types of relationships.

    Recapping Gemini Compatible Signs

Geminis thrive with partners who can match their energy, intellect, and curiosity. While some signs may present more challenges, any relationship can succeed with effort and understanding.
